How it Works

1. THE JAMDAWG JAM PROGRAM

At a JamDawg jam the main requirement for a musician to get on stage is to be at an INTERMEDIATE to ADVANCED level of playing skill. All services provided by the JamDawg organization are FREE to it's supporters. The requirements for a player to get on stage are:

    a. Musicians must be INTERMEDIATE to ADVANCED in skill level with a professional command of their instrument(s) and a professional attitude that is conducive to the environment and music community at large.

    b. Musicians must sign up on the jam list in order to be asked to play. *NOTE: There is no first come first serve with the list, rather a list is managed according to the best mix of players that are there at the time to create an overall best experience for all. We have found that this approach is fair, self-regulating and provides everyone with the opportunity to play on a regular basis.

    c. The scheduled host band will play for the first 30 - 40 mins, then ask a guest player/jammer or two (who has signed up) to sit in with the band for the last two  songs.

    d. From the end of the first set the host band will rotate as many players as possible from the list based on what instrument they play and what the best mix for an ensemble will deliver (This is not a good ol' boy's club where "friends" are given preference!). Musicians who have supported a JD jam and who continue to do so are known quantities in their skill and attitude. This will continue through to the end of the allotted time for the band and unless the venue host (owner) requests that the band takes a break, the program will continue as the goal is to give the attending jammers stage time.

NOTE: Two "TIERS" for Host Bands is now in place that identifies bands with the most to the least draw. At this stage of the JamDawg programs life at the Wilde Rover, bands who want to host the JamDawg jam will fall into either the TIER 1 or TIER 2 host band list. Tier 1 bands will be on the heaviest rotation where Tier 2 bands will be on less of a rotation. To be on either T1 or T2 list bands need to be proactive in promoting the JamDawg jam-night(s) they are hosting in order to bring more of their circle of influence to the jam. This can be activities ranging from sending an email blast to the bands email list, more word-of-mouth etc. Bands who show to have a larger draw than others will be hosting more at the Wilde Rover than others. We feel this is important to establish in order to further foster the local music community, and to up the anti (so to speak) at the JamDawg jam and take things to the next level.

2. A COLLABORATIVE TEAM EFFORT

The JamDawg organization recognizes four(4) customers that are key to the JamDawg program reaching its highest probability of success. The order here is important as it plays down the customer list where the end result is the same for all - SATISFACTION GUARANTEED!

    a. THE HOSTING VENUE: A hosting venue supports the JamDawg organization in providing the stage, sound system and lighting. Also provided is a meal for each member of the "host" band (NOT JAMMERS), and a beverage allowance. In order for a JamDawg jam to obtain its highest probability of success it is critical that the JamDawg organization in concert with the hosting venue of a JD jam participate equally in the marketing and promotion of the recurring jam. In general a dollar limit is placed on the band for food and beverage consumption with no limit on non-alcoholic beverages. These benefits are for the HOST BAND ONLY.

    b. THE HOST BAND: The JamDawg program rotates host bands from the local community and welcomes visiting and touring artists. A happy and talented host band means happy jammers, happy establishment customers, and subsequently happy owners. We cannot reach the all-happy situation without starting with a well-heeled host band, the JD guidelines ensure that. Also, musicians hired by the JD organization to host a JD jam must also REGISTER at the JD site as participating members BEFORE they are hired. *NOTE: It is important to know that unless you are a registered member and activiely participating in the JD jams and community that musicians will not be in the lottery for paying gigs. The purpose of this requirement is to ensure the quality and integrity of those bands put together that represent the JamDawg brand.

    c. THE ATTENDING JAMMERS: With a talented host band talented jammers will attend. The intermediate to advanced skill requirement is self-regulating providing an optimal experience for all. Also, jammers bring friends with them who will ring the host venue register.

    d. THE PATRONS: Where would a JamDawg be without the venues patrons, regular and otherwise? If a JamDawg jam does not attract, engage and retain the venues customers, there is NO JAM!

5. GIGS: In order for supporting musicians to be selected for JamDawg gigs such as club venues, festivals, JamDawg Jams, corporate and private parties they must be REGISTERED at jamdawgs.com and have a COMPLETED profile. Completed profiles will take precedence over incomplete profiles as that information is key in matching up the right players for any particular JamDawg function. The most complete profiles will be the ones viewed the most and subsequently provided more opportunities.

4. THE JAMDAWG WEB SITE

    a. The JamDawg website is a fully functioning social networking online environment designed and developed specifically to support musicians and venues that support the JamDawg program and it's mission in providing support for music education in our schools and communities. It is a highly collaborative site that interconnects all the players who REGISTER at the site with the JD organization and other beneficial resources. The most complete profiles will be the ones that are viewed the most and have the highest probability of selection from other resources looking to assemble groups of players for specific events such as corporate parties, private parties, JamDawg special events such as benefit concerts and festivals, recording studio gigs, competitions for studio recording time and featured in the New Artist section (under development) and other music related activities.

5. COMPENSATION TO THE HOST BAND

The host band is paid $300 USD. The JamDawg organization may or may not be a participant in that compensation based on the Host Venue providers status i.e. quality of house stage accommodations, sound system, lighting and overall operations where it supports the JamDawg program. Due to the generosity of enthusiastic donors this is one of the benefits afforded to those who support the JamDawg program.
